Three Peaks Challenge for Darren

Greg Adams – Senior Property Consultant from our Archway Office, has committed to completing The National Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for his childhood friend Darren, who was paralysed in 2020 following an accident.  Together with a group of his close friends, they have committed to the challenge on 4th October 2022, to raise £10,000 towards the cost of buying an Exoskeleton suit for Darren.

Often in one continuous 24-hour push - The National Three Peaks Challenge takes in the following highest summits: -

  • Scotland – Ben Nevis
  • England –  Scafell Pike
  • Wales –      Snowdon

The Three Peaks Challenge route starts in Scotland and finishes in Wales. The total walked distance is approximately 26 miles (42km) with a total ascent around 3,000m (9,800 ft). The National Three Peaks Challenge driving route is 462 miles long and can take around 10 hours in total. Reaching the summit of each peak and then returning to the car park at the foot of Snowdon within the 24 hours completes the challenge

Here in his own words, is why Greg has committed to this fund-raiser for his childhood friend:-

“The aim of the challenge is to try and raise £10,000 towards an overall fundraising goal of £80,000 for my friend, Darren Bovis. I’ve known Darren since I was 10 years old. We were neighbours until I was 18 and later played football for the same local side. Two years ago, Darren suffered a freak accident in his garden which left him paralysed from the waist down. After months of treatment, and no improvement in his condition, Darren discovered the ReWalk machine that allows him to walk using an Exoskeleton suit. He’s currently renting a second-hand Exoskeleton suit for £3,250 per month but would dearly love to buy his own suit. A new suit would cost £80,000, hence the fundraising target.

Darren has always been an active sportsman playing football, cricket and golf to an above-average standard. Seven of his former football team-mates and golfing buddies, together with his son Josh, are aiming to complete The Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours. If anyone is able to make a contribution to the Just Giving fund, I will be extremely grateful. Even a small donation will help us to reach our overall target.”

We’d like to wish Greg and his friends the very best of luck with their fund-raising efforts for Darren.
